Uralvagonzavod, one of Russia’s leading producers of rolling stock, is considering designing and production of main line locomotives together with Chinese companies, according to Oleg Sienko, CEO of the company.
 

According to initial plans of the company, joint production should take place in cooperation with the US Caterpillar, however, implementation of this project was suspended, due to sanctions against Russia.
 

A preliminary agreement between Caterpillar  and Uralvagonzavod was signed in 2013. According to plans of the partners, the production should be launched at the capacities of the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, which is part of Uralvagonzavod. Localization of production should be no less than 50%.
