BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The joint bid of Beijing and Zhangjiakou for the 2022 Winter Olympics Games makes transportation connecting Village to venues a priority.

China now is trying to solve the connection problem with the brand "China speed".

"Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei on the rail" is Beijing's slogan in the transportation field for 2015. The three zones have planned to update the railway and highway infrastructure in order to speed up the inter-city traffic. There are plans for various transportation methods such as high-speed rail, inter-city highway, railway, urban road and subway.

Yanqing has started to build a highway towards Zhangjiakou, which will provide the people with another choice to travel to Chongli. More bus lines will be opened to improve public transportation in these three zones and that will be another benefit for locals from the Winter Olympics campaign.

The southern part of Beijing, which was regarded as the less-developed patch of the city, will have more roads and railways.

"The high-speed rail linking Beijing and Zhangjiakou will significantly shorten the travel time to 50 minutes. All snow sports, except Alpine Skiing, bobsleigh and luge, will be staged here. Yanqing has ideal conditions for Alpine Skiing competitions, in addition to the convenient transport services provided by the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed rail and two expressways. All the three zones are connected by an existing high standard road network. The Olympic venues are all within a 15-minute bus ride from the Olympic Village in Beijing, and a 10-minute bus ride in Zhangjiakou and a five-minute bus ride in Yanqing, all providing convenient transport for the athletes," promised Beijing in the candidature release for 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

In a 5-year plan, Beijing is expecting to ease traffic congestion in the first year. In 2020, it will take less than one hour to travel within 50km from any part of the city to another. Beijing will continue to control the number of personal cars on road, encouraging more travel on public traffic.

"Zhangjiakou is 220km away from Beijing," said Zhangjiakou's official Zhang Chunsheng. "Currently there are three highways between the two cities."

"The construction of Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway will be completed in 2017, and that would reduce the inter-city travel time a lot," added Zhang.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics refreshed the city's traffic infrastructure, and 10 more subway lines had been put into use after that. Currently, the city can offer traffic service for 1.39 million people per day.

Additionally, Beijing will set a series of "Olympic routes", "Olympic buses" and "Olympics stations" during the Games.

Beijing introduces a strict criteria of "green, environmental-friendly and sustainable" in all the constructions.

The infrastructure update will not only benefit the Olympics Games, but also benefit the future of the city.
