Continuing its expansion into the US, Canadian Solar has announced that it has been awarded the module supply contract for a 2.1MW solar installation at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The company will supply almost 10,000 of its 6P 240P modules for the project, which will comprise two rooftop arrays, three solar canopies on parking lots and another solar canopy on the roof of a multi-floor parking structure.

Partial funding of US$9 million was invested by the hospital, while local utility Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) also assisted in financing the project through its solar loan program. It will be eligible for several incentive packages, including revenue from New Jersey's solar renewable energy credit program and a federal tax credit.

All design, building and maintenance of the project, construction on which is scheduled to start in October 2011, will be carried out by Sun Farm Network.

“This solar project is one of the largest and most advanced in the state”, said Mark Warner, CEO of Sun Farm Network. “This is a world class health care facility with demanding requirements, and St. Peter's Hospital is leading the market through their use of parking lot canopies to produce clean, renewable power. We considered several suppliers for this project, but Canadian Solar was the clear winner based on a combination of excellent product and strong business support.”
